Filming progress

On 11/6/19, I took my cast and crew out to film internal and external scenes at my house.  I had checked the weather reports on the news and on my phone in advance of my shoot to make sure we would not encounter any adverse weather, and had organised with cast and crew via the group chat a shooting time of 11am-5pm.  Helping me with the camera was Tom, and Joe and Rob were the actors in the scene.  We used classmate Joshs car to transport our equipment which consisted of a Canon 1200D digital camera and a tripod

I had location scouted my own home was perfect as a location, as the size of the home and the tree line was perfect for an abandoned feel.

To ensure that all cast  and crew would be safe, we walked through the scene first to eliminate any trip hazards, and then set up to film.  I wanted a combination of long shots and close ups. So I initially set up the close up with the tripod in the mirror, I then set up the longshot looking out the window. We ran through this three times to ensure that I had plenty of footage to choose from at the editing stage. I wanted to cut between the longshot of the two adventurers and the close ups of Tom looking out the window, so in order to do this I utilised a long shot of their entrance through the garden gate – I chose to do this with a tripod as I needed to imitate Tom looking out the window.  I set the camera up with an ISO of 400 and this lowered the brightness from outside as the camera was facing out the window. This meant I would have to raise the ISO when shooting shots inside the house. I shot enough footage so I could choose the most successful shots in editing. To end shooting I shot a tracking shot of Tom leaving the bed to enter the bathroom. to do this I used handheld to give the morning rusty feeling, this took a few shots to get the track right.

Overall, the day went really well. Although I underestimated the lack of natural lighting in my house so in hindsight I should've took some artificial lighting to improve the lighting.
