Film proposal

The film is a thriller. The thriller genre is a genre that can evoke a lot of emotion, The aim of my short film is to capture the audience in key moments and create a tension that will culminate in a big ending, The project will have many different layers and a deeper meaning that will become apparent to the audience throughout the film.

The house is a character driven thriller about an unstable man alone in a big countryside home, who is unable to separate his delusions and visions from reality

Act 1: After his parents death Donald is still coming to grips with his mental instability

Act 2: While walking round his house Donald begins to see things and people outside

Act 3: Donald is confronted by the things he sees in his head and tries to defend himself

Donald is a 20 year old who believes he is home alone after his parents death, but is in fact institutionalised for a mental health problem

Teenage explorer 1 (Brad): Explorer that finds Donalds home

Teenage explorer 2 (Dave): Explorer that finds Donalds home

Donald (early 20s), has been institutionalised due to a plethora of mental health problems, but while in an episode Donald imagines he is in his parents home alone and they have passed.

Donald struggles with what he sees in his episode and becomes manic when hearing his mums voice telling him to take his medication.

When Donald starts to see this he becomes defensive and starts to grab as many weapons as he possibly can, after this Donald the gets 'attacked' by the visions and he is succumbing to the beating feeling its what he deserves.

After this Donald awakes from his episode with his mother watching on caring for him.

My envisaged audience for this project is 15-25 year olds as mental health is very much a taboo subject for young people that isn't talked about enough. My USP is the targeted awareness of mental health.

Filming progress

On 11/6/19, I took my cast and crew out to film internal and external scenes at my house.  I had checked the weather reports on the news and on my phone in advance of my shoot to make sure we would not encounter any adverse weather, and had organised with cast and crew via the group chat a shooting time of 11am-5pm.  Helping me with the camera was Tom, and Joe and Rob were the actors in the scene.  We used classmate Joshs car to transport our equipment which consisted of a Canon 1200D digital camera and a tripod  I had location scouted my own home was perfect as a location, as the size of the home and the tree line was perfect for an abandoned feel. Master scene script (All examples are from drama film 'Brooklyn') A master scene script is the accepted format for film production in the industry. It is purposely designed to be easy to navigate and read for producers to show potential investors, it offers both description and dialogue to make the story easy to follow and read, this means technical information is very limited in the MSS format. A master scene script must follow a few conventions to be read or considered by a commissioning editor. The font must always be courier and the size must be 12, slug lines and characters names in dialogue must be capitalised. Another convention of the master scene script is voiceover and offscreen must be abbreviated as V.O. and O.S. Footer at the bottom should say CONTINUED where a scene continues to the next page, the next page should have CONT. top left.
